BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) — Microsoft on Tuesday set a “five-year diversity” target aimed at eliminating racial inequality in the office, as African-Americans were treated unfairly by the police and many came out in protest, media reported.
What is Microsoft going to do? It will spend an additional $150 million to drive diversity and inclusion, and by 2025 Microsoft will double the number of black/African-American managers, senior independent contributors, and senior leaders.
Freud’s death sparked mass protests, and racial discrimination is still widespread in corporate America, but many are already working hard. Earlier this month Google also said it planned to give more than 30 per cent of vulnerable leaders by 2025.
Microsoft also said in a blog post that it will try to address other minority issues over the next five years, such as those of Hispanics and Latinos. Over the next three years, Microsoft will double the number of black and African-American suppliers and increase funding for existing and new suppliers by $500 million. (Star sea)
