According tomedia reports, Microsoft has acknowledged an issue that affects all versions of Edge browsers, namely that YouTube videos cannot be played when AdBlock or AdBlock Plus extensions are enabled. The Redmond-based giant said in a tech community post that it had investigated possible vulnerabilities based on user feedback.
Users reported that there was an error or a blank screen when the video was played on YouTube. The question was primary in browsers that enabled ad-blocking extensions. Currently, the only way to solve this problem is to disable the extension reload page.
The post added that the team is conducting further investigations and is working on repairs. The company is looking for feedback from users to see if they see error information when the extension is disabled or not even installed.
Because this issue affects all browsers on all platforms — including Canary, Dev, Beta, and stable versions — the company can push patches to all versions when the solution is ready.
