Office for Windows is about to feature smart save reminders for unsaved documents

Microsoft is currently working on a new feature called Smart Save Reminders for Microsoft Office users on Windows that will help remind users to save documents that are not currently saved and avoid unexpected hardware and software that can lose work. The feature is already available in Microsoft Word using Build 13001.10000 or later Office Insiders, and when users start working on a new file, they are intelligently prompted to save their work.

According to Microsoft, Smart Save uses machine learning to determine the likelihood of saving a file, and then displays a reminder under the Save button.

Before displaying the prompt, AI analyzes some properties, including how much content the user has added to the file, or how much time it spends on the file.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft’s Office app already provides automatic save for Microsoft 365 users, but these new reminders are a good choice for others. This feature is designed specifically for users who often forget to save files, and they may lose their jobs due to unexpected circumstances.
