According tomedia reports, YouTube has banned several well-known white supremacist channels, including those affiliated with Stefan Molyneux, David Duke and Richard Spencer. Other banned channels include American Renaissance (and its associated channels, AmRen Podcasts), Spencer’s National Policy Institute, and others. A YouTube spokesman said the channels had repeatedly violated YouTube’s policies.
A YouTube spokesman told The Verge: “We have a strict policy against hate speech on YouTube and will terminate any channels that repeatedly or seriously violate these policies.” After updating our guidelines to better handle supremacistic content, we’ve seen a five-fold increase in video deletions and the termination of more than 25,000 channels that violate our hate speech policy. “
Some of the affected creators have started posting messages on Twitter about their channels being banned. Spencer said in a post on Twitter that he would appeal. Molyneux tweeted that YouTube “just suspended the world’s biggest philosophical dialogue ever.”
