Google announced today that it will hold an online smart home developer event on July 8 this year, in place of the cancelled Google I/O conference, promising to “provide new features for smart home developers and users.” This online event includes a 45-minute keynote, a series of developer agendas, and panel discussions with Google and other companies in the smart home industry.
The keynote, hosted by Michele Turner, Google’s Director of Smart Home Ecosystem Product Management, will introduce Google’s latest Smart Home API features, as well as other benefits for developers and users. Google said it would use the summit to “share our recent smart home product initiative.”
Google’s smart home division has been busy since Nest rebranded it in 2019. Last year, the company unveiled a New Smart Screen called Nest Mini Smart Speaker, Nest Wifi Mesh Router, and a new smart screen called Nest Hub Max. Earlier this year, it revamped its Nest Aware subscription for smart home security cameras and announced a series of improvements to Google Assistant.
