According tomedia reports, updating its most popular models is both an opportunity and a risk for carmakers, and may be more challenging for VW’s vision. The car is reported to have sold 109,572 cars in the U.S. in 2019, while U.S. drivers’ desire for bigger crossovers and SUVs has made midsize SUVs a major source of revenue for vw. In Europe, it is the best-selling SUV.
“Tuoguan is our best-selling Volkswagen and an extremely important model in our product line,” said Hein Schafer, senior vice president of marketing and strategy at Volkswagen AG. The compact SUV market continues to grow, and Tudor has really helped us double our market share. “
It is reported that the new road view will soon land in the European market, but the United States consumers will have to wait a while. Volkswagen said its latest Model SUV, the standard wheelbase version, will arrive in Europe in early July. The North American market won’t be seen until October next year.
In 2018, Vw launched the Long Wheelbase Version (LWB) and thus launched the rebirth of the Road view, which will enter the U.S. market in the future. Based on the same platform as the three-row Atlas SUV and Golf hatchback, the LWB Isaper is 10 inches longer than the Short Wheelbase Version (SWB). As a result, this allows Tuguan to squeeze into the third row of seats.
There is no denying that the third row of cars is only suitable for children or adults with height disorders, and the public was quick to acknowledge this restriction. Still, Tuo-LWB has been effective in helping the carmaker double its market share between 2016 and 2019. Currently, 45 per cent of Tuo-Gog-to-e-go sales are for the AWD version, while 23 per cent of users who buy AWD have opted to add a third row seat.
In keeping with VW’s other recently released models, the 2021 Tour also incorporates solid styling and sporty elements. The front face of the car has been redesigned with LED headlights and a large front bumper with a lower C-shaped air intake and larger grille is used. In addition, the wheels also have domestic performance, with a size of 17-20 inches to choose from.
Obviously, It’s obviously a good thing that Tougo inherited some of the style DNA from the new Atlas Cross Sport. At the rear of the car, the same LED taillights have been replaced with a new design, making it easier to open and close the rear bezel. A new bumper plus the “TIGUAN” letter – now positioned under the central Volkswagen logo – helps it distinguish itself from the outgoing SUV.
At the same time, some important internal updates have been made to keep it fresh among its competitors, including a standard 8-inch digital cockpit display and a larger 10-inch display. The information entertainment system is the latest generation of VW’s MIB3, equipped with a 6.5-inch or 8-inch touchscreen. The public wisely retains the volume and radio adjustment knobs, while HVAC’s new Climatronic Touch Interface (the touch interface for the automatic climate-conditioning system) opts to replace physical control with a touch-enabled touch version that supports haptic feedback.
Other features include 15-color ambient lighting, new interior trim, new steering wheel, and more. In addition, wireless App-Connect and 480W Fender audio systems are available for buyers to choose from.
The 2021 VW Tour will offer four kit options when it is launched. The base Model Road view S will be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, heated seats and standard LED headlights and taillights. The SE will be equipped with 18-inch alloy tires, power backpanels, touch climate control, panoramic sunroofs and comprehensive safety features including adaptive cruise control, emergency assistance and lane assistance. It also comes with an 8-inch central MIB3 touchscreen, leather seat surface and new yellow-brown option.
The Tow SE R-Line Black features 19-inch alloy tires, R-Line bumpers, a black roof rack and an R-Line sports steering wheel borrowed from Atlas R-Line. The top-of-the-line CEL R-Line features 20-inch wheels, a larger 10-inch digital cockpit, interior ambient lighting and advanced safety features — including predictive adaptive cruise control and dynamic road sign display systems. It also features leather seats and a new yellow-brown color option.
The AWD and three-row seats are standard in SE and higher models.
Regardless of the interior, all 2021 Tourde is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder TSI engine and an 8-speed automatic gearbox that delivers 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Vw’s 4Motion AWD system is the choice configuration.
The new car doesn’t provide much power compared to the 2020 model, but VW says it has made adjustments to the car’s software that will lead to some improvements in driving performance, particularly in terms of drive feel and engine responsiveness.
The 2021 VW Tour is expected to remain the best-selling model. Notably, while the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are building a lightly electrified road, VW has no plans to sell a mixed version of the new Road View in North America. This may be a missed opportunity for the public.
