Tesla opens electric pickup Cybertruck in China to book $1000

BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) — Tesla has opened a reservation for an electric pickup truck in China for 1,000 yuan ($141), slightly more than the $100 u.S. reservation fee, according to Tesla China’ official website. In addition, bookers can now lock in a fully autonomous driving package for 64,000 yuan ($9,000), which costs $8,000 in the U.S.

Tesla launched the Cybertruck last year and has been priced at $39,900 (about Rmb280,000). Elon Musk, the CEO, has said Tesla received more than 250,000 bookings within a week of the model’s launch.

Tesla’s Cybertruck electric pickup has more than 650,000 orders, according to Wedbush. The pre-orders for Tesla’s Cybertruck have helped boost sales of the company’s cars, the sources said.
