Automatic transmission, by virtue of the effortless driving style, by the people’s favor. However, automatic transmissions are more expensive than manual transmissions. For this reason, the semi-automatic transmission also came into being, it is cheaper than automatic transmission, and the operation method is more convenient than manual transmission.
This new transmission, known today as the Smart Manual Transmission (iMT), does not have a clutch pedal in the car, although it is a manual transmission. The clutch of the new iMT transmission will be equipped with an automatic actuator to replace the traditional clutch pedal.
Although the iMT works in a similar way to the AMT, the AMT transmission is closer to the automatic gear model, with a computer program controlling the shift, and the shift mechanism and the automatic gear model are similar to the “R-N-D” and other shift ingest ives.
Hyundai’s new iMT manual transmission, which, like the traditional manual transmission, is a “1-2-3-4-5-R” shift. Only when the driver shifts gear, do not need to press the clutch pedal, direct control gear lever shift can be. The separation and binding of the clutch is operated by the automatic actuator.
It has to be said that this new modern shift technology, really created a design pioneer. At the same time, this new transmission will debut in the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. However, without the clutch’s manual gear, its power interruption and frustration when shifting gears, it remains to be seen how well Hyundai can optimize it.
