Two years and nine months after announcing that it would produce three full VR games, Valve Software has released one of its most exciting announcements yet on VR games – the company announced Monday that it will launch Half-Life: Alyx, which is the first new game of the most acclaimed “Half-Life” series.
Valve has not provided any other details other than the announcement in the tweet, which appears to be the first tweet posted by a new Twitter-verified Valve Software account registered in June. We will be able to get more information from this account at 10 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday. But Alex is almost certainly referring to Alyx Vance, a close ally of Gordon Freeman, the protagonist of Half-Life 2.
Despite being the most influential and acclaimed PC game of all time, Valve has yet to release the third part of its Half-Life trilogy. After Half-Life and Half-Life 2, the company created Half-Life 2: Chapter 1 and Half-Life 2: Chapter 2, but Half-Life 3 has not come yet.
