Microsoft is looking to pass Google’s compatibility tests for Surface Duo, which runs Android 10, according to a new survey bymedia, meaning the device is nearing launch. Microsoft engineers in charge of Surface Duo have recently submitted open source Android projects several times to support devices that use “non-standard window mode.”

“This adds a check to the test case to support devices that use non-standard window mode,” one of the submissions read. The test has updated the logic for single-screen devices or fixed-size displays.” The submissions were submitted by Microsoft engineers to the “Android 10-dev” branch, indicating that surface Duo will be powered by an Android 10 system. Microsoft plans to upgrade Surface Duo to Android 11 later this year.
