Tesla patents new anode-free lithium metal battery

Tesla has filed a patent for a new anode-free lithium-metal battery, according to Electrek. Tesla is reported to have said in its patent report that anode-free lithium-metal batteries have some advantages over conventional lithium-ion batteries because they have a higher energy density. Withnoad coatings, anode-free batteries are also cheaper and easier to assemble. But this battery needs to be improved in terms of life.

In addition, Tesla released test results in the patent report showing an increase in battery capacity, but it doesn’t appear to have increased the battery’s battery life cycle to more than 50 times. Tesla needs to cycle the battery more times to commercialize it.
