Hasbro, the toy company, has announced that it will launch the Super Mario Celebration and Super Mario Bricks on August 1,media CNET reported. The Mario-themed Monopoly game, priced at $30, is suitable for two to six players, extracts iconic locations and projects from the 35-year history of the video game series, and replaces houses and hotels with a house and a castle of Princess Peach. A “problem box” with sound effects can change the player’s luck.
Players will travel from the original World 1-1 to Bowser’s Kingdom, along the way to Yohei Island, Delfino Square and New Town. Six player icons include Superstar, Spark, Super Leaves, Yoxi Eggs, Coba Shells and Mushrooms.
The Super Mario bricks, which cost $20, are suitable for two or four players, and are a little different from traditional wood-block stacking games – you play Mario, Luigi, Peach or Toad, collecting coins as you climb the tower to beat Bowser. A spinner determines your next move: how many layers to climb, how many blocks to remove and stack, whether to collect coins, or whether the game reverses direction.
