OnePlus Nord is to be announced with the new OnePlus Buds. In the past few weeks, the OnePlus’s upcoming budget smartphone has gathered plenty of attention, with officials today confirming that the OnePlus Nord will have a screen with up to 12GB of RAM, a 90Hz refresh rate and a Google Phone app, and how the device will look almost as good.
Shawn L., OnePlus Nord’s product director, revealed today that the device will feature a 90Hz display, and that while the company’s latest OnePlus 8 Pro has a high refresh rate, it has been popular in the past. In conjunction with the 90Hz panel, the touch sample rate has also been increased to 180Hz, which will be great news for gamers. The company has not disclosed the size of the display, but what we do know is that the panel will be cut with a double punch and is an OLED panel.
Shawn L. says the one Plus saw its first 90Hz display on the OnePlus 7 Pro last year and has been working tirelessly ever since then to optimize 90Hz, and one of the biggest improvements now comes from the touch response speed that 90Hz display technology can achieve. Touch sampling rates measure the speed at which the screen reacts to a user’s touch, swipe, and scroll gestures per second.
On Nord, its peak touch sampling rate has been increased from 135Hz on the OnePlus 7T to 180Hz, which can be useful for specific tasks such as games, in addition to the 12GB of memory plus Snap765G, and the increase in the number of memory and processor cores will provide smoother performance for users paying less than $500.
The company also shared a short video on Instagram stressing that it would offer Google’s phone and messaging apps on the grounds that it is “smoother,” meaning that in some countries, they will be replaced by Google’s official apps.
OnePlus Nord is scheduled to appear at the AR event on Tuesday, July 21.
