This set of third-party Fluent Design icon designs foreshadows the style of Windows 10 in the future.

Fluent Design is a big bet for Microsoft’s future with Windows 10 and several other products, as the company uses the new design language to bring a fresh and modern look to its portfolio. On the other hand, it took longer than expected to implement Fluent Design in Windows 10 and complete the transformation. Microsoft is obviously planning to go step by step, which is actually a pretty good move.

This set of third-party Fluent Design icon designs foreshadows the style of Windows 10 in the future.

For example, an icon makeover based on Fluent Design is an ongoing work in Windows 10, and the company recently released a new look for a portion of the icon set in the operating system. But because it takes microsoft to refresh all the icons for a long time, someone on Reddit has decided to combine official icons with fan-made artwork in a large package to help Windows 10 and third-party vendors provide a more comprehensive modern look.

These icons include new designs for Windows 10 Chinese clips, Adobe series of software, Notepad, Office, PowerToys, Visual Studio, and other popular apps that users can download and then enable in the operating system with dedicated software, or manually enable them using built-in options and the registry.

As for when Microsoft should complete the Fluent Design transformation in Windows 10, there is no timetable yet, because the design language will be further developed and improved to keep up-to-date on the UI and UX.
