AMD has added one new global academician: only 7 people have received this award.

AMD has announced the appointment of architect Alex Starr as a Global Fellow/Corporate Fellow. The Global Fellow is the highest title in AMD Technology, and only seven people have received this award. Alex Starr is considered to be a significant contributor to advancing hardware simulation and virtualization technologies.

The technology it developed has been adopted by all AMD product divisions and has significantly reduced the time it takes for silicon chips to come out and to revise them, making it easy for companies to quickly adapt to market demands and launch products.

Starr has been working at AMD for nearly 15 years and is a respected pioneer in CPU and GPU processors and complex SoC verification methods, according to the data. AMD says its deep industry experience and innovation enables AMD to continue its technology roadmap and improve its competitive position in the industry.

AMD notes that the appointment of global academicians goes through a rigorous review process that evaluates not only its specific technical contributions to the company, but also the involvement of the entire industry, guidance to others, and assistance to the company’s long-term strategic position.
