Amazon spent nearly $7 billion on advertising in the U.S. in 2019, making it the largest U.S. advertising spender, according to a new analysis by Kantar,media reported. And just over a decade ago (in 2009), Jeff Bezos, the company’s CEO, proudly declared, “Advertising is the price you pay for a humble product or service.” “
Now, the e-commerce giant is selling hundreds of its own products, from voice assistants to TV hardware, so it’s starting to take a different view. Bezos recently admitted (last year) that he had changed his mind.
