The FDA has ordered a recall of 75 brand hand sanitizers: Methanol is at risk of death.

24 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently expanded its recalled hand sanitizer list to at least 75 brands, some of which are sold at Wal-Mart, Costco and other national chains because of excess methanol levels that could cause injury or death.

The FDA has ordered a recall of 75 brand hand sanitizers: Methanol is at risk of death.

The FDA says there is a growing number of hand sanitizers on the market, and although it is labeled to contain ethanol, the warning test scans methanol, or xyl. If methanol is absorbed through the skin, it can lead to blindness and hospitalization, and if overing it, it can lead to death.

Since the outbreak of the new U.S. crown outbreak, health officials have been urging people to wash their hands, leading to a surge in demand for hand sanitizer, and problematic new brands have been launched across the U.S., most of them imported from Mexico.
