The Windows 10 May 2020 (20H1/Version 2004) feature update was officially released in May this year, but some devices are still not upgraded. In addition to some devices due to compatibility issues, there are some eligible device users who do not choose to upgrade. After forcing a Version 1809 upgrade last month, Microsoft today said it is sending automatic updates for The Version 1903/1909 feature update.
It is written in the official support documentation for the Windows 10 Version 2004 feature update.
Status as of 22 July 2020.
Version 2004 is now open for those who are currently running Windows 10 Version 1903/1909, which is the user who can manually “check for updates” in Windows Update. We are now entering a new stage of promotion. With existing machine learning-based training, we’ll scale up the automatic upgrade to Version 2004 for devices that are about to stop service. We’ll train our machine learning at all stages to promote and deploy Windows 10 systems more intelligently and provide a smoother update experience. The recommended service status is Semi-Annual Channel.
This means that Microsoft will automatically update to Windows 10 Version 2004 for devices that are still running legacy feature updates but are eligible for upgrades. While mandatory updates are bound to be met with some user dissatisfaction, upgrading to a new system is necessary.
