Chinese social media/video app TikTok has also cracked down on thousands of accounts that spread QAnon conspiracy theories,media reported. The company banned two QAnon-related labels on its platform. According to ABC, users will no longer be able to see the QAnon label and another label using the popular QAnon slogan on TikTok.
QAnon is a fringe conspiracy theory, centered on the so-called conspiracy of “deep state forces” against Donald Trump, at the source in information 4chan.
While Twitter’s crackdown has affected about 150,000 accounts, TikTok’s campaign has removed a hashtag that has so far been viewed by about 80 million people. But only searches using tags were removed, and videos containing QAnon content still exist on TikTok, although they are difficult to find because of the tag ban.
