Google has announced its upcoming Pixel 4a on August 3rd, but it looks like the company has another surprise, according tomedia reports. The company appears to be planning to show people its upcoming 5G Pixel phone, as is evident in a photo posted on Twitter by the whistleblower Ishan Agarwal.
The image doesn’t reveal much, but it does give people a side look at the Pixel 5 RG and the Pixel 4a 5G, behind which the 5G logo cleverly uses Google’s logo. The phone on the left may be the Pixel 5G because it has a pulled metal frame, the same as Google used in its Pixel 4 series. This one on the right may be pixel 4a 5G because it appears to have a plastic frame.
The Pixel 5G will be Google’s flagship this year, but it will feature a high-end SnapDragon 765G chipset instead of Qualcomm’s top SnapSnapdragon 865 chip. This will help Google control the price of a device in a world where the price of its flagship smartphone often exceeds $1,000. As for the Pixel 4a 5G, it is expected to be the same size as the Pixel 4a, but with a larger screen and possibly a dual camera to help differentiate it from its non-5G counterparts.
