At the X019 conference, Microsoft unveiled the first demonstration of Age of Empires 4. Developed by Relic Entertainment, it looks like this RTS series is back to where it does best – big historical battles, first-class animation and detail. The game will land on the PC, but is it possible to have the Xbox One version? After all, both Star and Civilization 6 have landed on the console platform.
In response, themedia outlet Stevivor interviewed Shannon Loftis, the director of World’s Edge, the studio that oversees the production of the Empire Age series, and Adam Isgreen, creative director of the Empire Age series.
Lofttis said: “It’s hard, as a PC game, we want it to do very well on PC. But I think the whole platform concept on Xbox has to change. We’re working hard to ensure that visual rendering players want to experience all the different ways of the Empire Age. But our first priority is to make it and the key mouse work well. “
Loftis talked about the need for strategic games like Civilization 6 on consoles. “We will explore our options,” Isgreen said. Once we’ve launched our excellent PC version, then we’ll start thinking about other ways we can show. “
While the announcement isn’t certain to land on the Xbox One, Microsoft seems to have offered a glimmer of hope.
