AMD Zen is undoubtedly a highly successful architecture with flexibility in scaling, from data centers to consumer levels, from desktops to notebooks, from high performance to low power consumption, in almost any computing space. Recently, Lenovo quietly released the second generation 100e, 300e entry-level education notebook, the use of a very special processor, is a “AMD 3015e”, thermal design power consumption of only 6W, is the latest Zen architecture.
The AMD Zen architecture previously had a minimum thermal design consumption limit of 15W, but has recently quietly achieved 6W and has three different products.
One is Lenovo’s AMD 3015e, note that this is its model, did not use The Ryzen, Staton and any other brands, directly is AMD company name plus digital number, it is really strange.
Specifications, it is also based on the first 14nm process Zen architecture, 2 core 4 threads, second-level cache 1MB, three-stage cache 4MB, main frequency 1.2-2.3GHz, while integrated Vega 3 GPU, 192 stream processors, frequency 600MHz, memory support single-channel DDR4-1600.
It also has an “AMD 3020e” on top, removing multithreaded to 2 core 2 threads, but the cpu frequency is increased to 2.6GHz, GPU frequency is increased to 1000MHz, and support for dual-channel DDR4-2400.
Then there is a “Speeddragon Silver 3050e”, 2 core 4 threads, CPU maximum frequency 2.8GHz (the base value is not published), the other is the same as AMD 3020e.
Anyway, it’s a mess.
Back on Lenovo’s side, the second-generation 100e features a 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 resolution screen (brightness 250nits), 4GB DDR4 memory, 64GB eMMC storage, Wi-Fi 6 wireless card, Windows 10 operating system, up to 12 hours of battery life, 80% of half an hour of charging, and a strong body to handle falling scraps.
The second-generation 300e is a 360-degree flip-flop with a stylus, an optional 128GB SSD, 42Whr battery and a battery life of about 12 hours.
Because of the application to students, both are pre-installed with a large amount of educational software and resources.
It went on sale in September, starting at $129 and $299, respectively.
