Samsung’s wireless earbud lineup has a new choice, with the Galaxy Buds Live bringing a new design and active noise reduction for the first time. Samsung says the Galaxy Buds Live is designed to be comfortable enough for all-day wear and has a strong battery life, balancing the ANC with a non-isolated ventilation design.
For long-term comfort, Samsung suggests designing an ear vent and putting two sizes of silicone plug in the box.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live is waterproof to IPX2, which means they can withstand rain or occasional water flowers, swim in the pool or wash completely in water. Inside the bean-shaped enclosure is a 12mm AKG driver that is larger than in the Galaxy Buds Plus and naturally has better sound quality, and, like older earbuds, Samsung has installed three microphones for beamforming on each side, making audio directional pick-up better and helping to automatically adjust background noise.
Unlike the Galaxy Buds Plus, which is sealed in the ear canal and uses an external microphone to transmit ambient noise, Galaxy Buds Live uses its vents to get ambient sound. Tap and hold the toucher on the outer edge of the Galaxy Buds Live to turn the ANC on or off.
Paired with a Samsung phone, the earbuds can activate the Bixby voice assistant, or the Siri on the iPhone, or Google Assistant on an Android device, can be triggered by clicking.
Bixby voice triggers are not the only Samsung-specific features. Galaxy Buds Live also offers a game mode that reduces sound delays, but only if you have a Galaxy phone.
The Galaxy Buds Live will be on sale side-by-side with Galaxy Buds Plus, rather than replacing Galaxy Buds Plus, which means the latter will continue to sell. The Galaxy Buds Live earbuds have eight hours of battery life, and the charging case provides an extra 21 hours (the charging case can play for an hour for 5 minutes, the case itself can be charged via USB-C or Qi wireless, or it can be charged from a Samsung phone that provides PowerShare reverse wireless charging). ), so a full charge can be listened to for a total of 29 hours. This is when the ANC is turned off; when active noise reduction is turned on, the battery life is only 6.5 hours, or the minimum is reduced to 6 hours when the ANC is turned on and the microphone is always turned on.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Live will go on sale on August 6 for $169.99. They will be available in three colors: mysterious bronze, mysterious white and mysterious black.
