On November 21st, today, the World 5G Congress opened in Beijing, Xiaomi Group Chairman and CEO Lei Jun said in a keynote speech to the Conference, Xiaomi will invest more than 10 billion yuan in the aioT field in the next five years. At the same time, at the end of December, Xiaomi’s smart factory in Yizhuang will be put into operation, specializing in research and development and production of Xiaomi’s flagship mobile phone, can produce 60 units per minute, the first phase of the design capacity of 1 million units.
Mr. Lei said he had previously attended China Mobile’s global partner conference, at which China Mobile set its 2020 target of selling about 100 million phones and developing 78 million 5G users. Thus, 5G is a positive factor for the mobile phone industry.
So far, Xiaomi has released three 5G phones, namely Xiaomi MIX3 5G, Xiaomi 9Pro 5G and Xiaomi MIX Alpha 5G surround screen concept phone. Redmi will release its first 5G phone, the Redmi K30, in December, which supports the SA and NSA dual-network models. At the previous Xiaomi developer conference, Lei Jun even announced that Xiaomi would release at least ten 5G phones next year.
Lei Jun also announced at the scene that Xiaomi’s future factory in Yizhuang will soon be completed. The 5G-era smart factory, a pilot plant for the development and production of Xiaomi’s flagship mobile phone, is expected to start production by the end of December, with a design capacity of 1 million phones in the first phase. Lei Jun also revealed that the factory large-scale use of automated production lines, 5G networks, robots, big data and other technologies, is expected to automatically produce 60 smartphones per minute, efficiency than the traditional factory increased by more than 60%.
