Despite Microsoft’s efforts to turn Cortana into a smart voice interaction tool that helps increase productivity, not all Windows 10 users want to see it brush around the system. Fortunately, after the Windows 10 20H1 (Version 2004) update, users have been able to remove Cortana feature components more easily than ever before.
Over the past few years, smart voice assistants, represented by Microsoft Cortana, Amazon Alexa, Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant, have become quite popular and work as many devices as users expect.
Now, however, Microsoft has transformed Cortana from a consumer-oriented one to a focus on productivity gains, making it a better addition to Microsoft 365 subscription services.
It is reported that the updated Cortana ushered in a new chat-based interface, improved keyboard support, and the ability to drag on the desktop to adjust the window position.
However, after you uninstall it in the Microsoft Store of Windows 10 2004, you won’t be able to use Cortana to read e-mail aloud, call them to play music in Groove Music, and use apps that can’t be started with chat/voice-based commands.
If you really don’t use Cortana, you can refer to the following:
1 Open Windows Search;
(2) Run powershell with administrator rights;
(3) Enter the following command and return to the car –
Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.549981C3F5F10. Remove-AppxPackage.
(4) Close PowerShell;
(5) Restart the system.
Once you’ve done this, you won’t be able to find Cortana in Windows 10’s installed program or system settings.
Even so, this does not completely eliminate all traces of Cortana, such as the Cortana button can still be seen in the taskbar (which can be undisplayed by right-click menu).
Also, after you delete Cortana, the WinKey and C key combinations will fail, but you can still specify to trigger other actions with PowerToys’s Keyboard Remapper feature.
If you want to continue using Cortana in the future, Microsoft also offers a regret medicine option, simply go to the Microsoft Store and download it again.
