On November 17th Apple removed the Ratings and Reviews section from all product pages of its official website. It is unclear what prompted Apple to make the decision, or when Apple would re-display user reviews. Apple Insider has learned from readers that there is a lack of “Buyer Reviews” section on the Apple Online Retail Store page.
Users also pointed out that the pages had been removed from Apple’s online stores in the US, UK and Australia, suggesting that this was not only a mistake, but that Apple was officially intentional. Apple canceled the reviews over the weekend, though it’s unclear why. Apple has known that it has even left negative comments about the product that demonstrate transparency and integrity to customers. AppleInsider found that the comments were withdrawn at a point between the evening of November 16 and the morning of November 17.
Earlier, the famous photo account Fstoppers, which posted a YouTube video on November 16 with the caption, “Apple fans, where is your God now?” In the video, the host reads some of the negative comments made by Users on Apple’s official website about the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, which was released on November 16, after Apple removed the site’s user review feature.
However, it remains to be seen whether the video’s 56,000 pages of views at the time of its release do not appear to be enough to draw Apple’s attention to the content of the video, and whether the video is related to Apple’s decision to delete the comments. Other videos are more critical of Apple’s products, and some are much more viewed, but it’s clear that Apple doesn’t seem to have spent as much time dealing with these public complaints.
