Amazon sells fake blood capsules in India, sparking outrage

Recently, according tomedia reports, Amazon India for selling a capsule product called “first night blood”, by the Internet users. The controversial product, called “i-virgin”, consists of a small capsule, a capsule filled with red soluble powder that can be stuffed into the body for a needed female buyer to pretend to be a virgin.

The product is called a “high-quality blood powder, non-toxic and side-effects, without injections or surgery, simple, fast and convenient.” A box costs 3,100 rupees, free of postage, or about 312 yuan.

Amazon India has been accused of supporting centuries-old taboos in the country by selling products that help people pretend to be virgins on their first wedding night. In some parts of India, virginity is considered a matter of life and death, and relatives of the groom check their sheets after a night in the couple’s cave.
