A German driver driving a tractor set a new lap record at the New North circuit,media reported. Without glossy tyres, Christian Menzel cut the previous record set by Porsche by more than half. It is reported that the new record is a vintage Porsche tractor, according to driving records, the old record was set in 2014, driving time of 1 hour, 5 minutes and 36 seconds, driven by a powerful 14-horsepower engine.
Menzel is driving a Claas Xerion 5000 Trac with 473 horsepower, 2600 Nm output, 12.8-liter, 6-cylinder engine.
The tractor weighs about 17,000 kg and has a top speed of 31 miles per hour (50 km/h). Menzel ran a lap in 24 minutes 50.57 seconds, more than three times as long as a modern supercar. Note that the Xerion 5000 Trac is actually a concept tractor.
