As the release of the iPhone 12 gets closer, Omdia’s latest research report, shared today, shows that the highest number of smartphones shipped in the first half of this year was the Apple iPhone 11, with shipments of other iPhone models among the top 10. According to the report, the iPhone 11 is the most popular smartphone in the first half of 2020.
Last year, the most popular smartphone was the iPhone XR, and this year the iPhone 11 continues that tradition. According to Omdia, iPhone 11 shipments reached 37.7 million this year, 10.8 million more than last year’s iPhone XR.
Despite the impact of the outbreak, iPhone sales have been good this year, and the iPhone 11 has contributed a lot. The iPhone 11 is cheaper than the iPhone XR, and many hardware upgrades, such as dual cameras, are available.
In the top 10, the 2020 iPhone SE came in fifth, the iPhone XR came in sixth, the iPhone 11 Pro Max came in seventh, and the iPhone 11 Pro came in 10th. That means Apple took five places in the top 10 in the list of most popular phones in the first half of 2020, with other high-volume smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy A51 and a variety of Red Rice phones.
In the first half of this year, the new iPhone SE shipped 8.7 million. However, shipments of the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max fell to 6.7 million and 7.7 million, respectively, compared with last year’s iPhone XS and XS Max.
