Indian Prime Minister Narendi Modi’s Twitter account confirmed the hack: asking for donations of cryptocurrencies.

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) — The Twitter account of Indian Prime Minister Naomodia Modi’s personal website was hacked earlier Thursday. Modi’s personal website account narendramodi_in a series of tweets asking its fans to donate to a relief fund in the form of cryptocurrencies. The tweets were subsequently taken down.

Twitter confirmed that narendramodi_in had been compromised, saying it was aware of the account’s activities and taking steps to secure the compromised account. “We are actively investigating the situation. At this time, we have not found any other accounts affected. A Twitter spokesman said in an emailed statement.

Modi’s office has yet to comment narendramodi_in his account’s tweets.
