Apple appears to have expanded Apple Maps’ traffic information and 3D view capabilities in Portugal and the Netherlands, media reported. Apple has added 3D rendering of satellite imagery to cities such as Amsterdam, Harlem, Zandford, Bromental, Heimsted, Hofdorp, Zandan and Alsmere, iCulture reported. Previously, only Rotterdam, Einhoven and Udlercht in the Netherlands could view 3D views. Flyover is not yet available at the new location.
The extension also appears to include surrounding towns and villages such as Lisse, Abcoude, Amersfoort, Soest, Baarn and Leusden. It is reported that the pictures used are this spring.
In addition to the updated view of the Netherlands, Apple has added public transport information about Lisbon, Portugal, to Apple Maps, including its surrounding area. Apple Maps users in the area can now choose public transport routes when getting directions between the two places.
Apple Maps first joined the bus route in 2015 with the launch of iOS 9. The map initially provided public transportation information in only a few cities, but over the past five years Apple has worked hard to expand the feature to more areas.
Public transport information is now available in dozens of cities and countries around the world, and Apple’s iOS and iPad OS feature availability websites provide a complete list, although it has not yet been updated to include Lisbon.
