Professor Elena Kulinskaya, who is in charge of the development of the app, said: “Everyone cares about their life expectancy, which is a key factor. The calculator can help people increase their life expectancy by changing their healthy lifestyle, ideally by nine years. “
The development of the Life Expectancy Calculator was based on an electronic health records study involving 110,000 healthy subjects who reached the age of 60 between 1990 and 2000 and surveyed their health every six months.
When using this calculation, the researchers say, you only need to enter your basic information, including your name, age, gender, any potential health conditions, and smoking history. Based on big data analytics, calculators can predict your life expectancy.
The results were translated into life expectancy for 648 different risk types based on age, gender, and zip code, including high blood pressure, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, body mass index, risk of heart events within 10 years, smoking status, and use of statins.
Professor Kulinskaya points out that the “life expectancy calculator” will visually show the impact of factors such as smoking and diabetes on life expectancy. This will help people change their way of life to improve their life expectancy.
