On September 7th Tesla, the maker of electric cars, quietly launched a battery recycling service at home, according to its official website. So far, Tesla hasn’t touted its battery recycling service, only has made it available on its official question-and-answer interface. In its presentation, the company said its service centers around the world can handle any battery that no longer meets customer needs, and that end-of-life lithium-ion batteries will not be landfilled and can be recycled 100%.
At the same time, the company says extending battery pack life is a priority for environmental and commercial reasons compared to recycling. As a result, the company will make every effort to extend the life of each battery pack before scrapping it and recycling it.
