On November 24th, MediaTek released a new 5G SOC launch poster, announcing that it was two days away from the launch of mediatek’s 5G programme and the Global Partnership Conference. The poster shows that the new MediaTek 5G SOC will support dual carrier aggregation for high-speed 5G wide coverage.
Unsurprisingly, the launch will feature MediaTek’s integrated 5G baseband SOC, called MT6855.
According to reports, MediaTek MT6885 is based on TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process and uses the ARM Cortex A77 architecture to integrate the Mali-G77 GPU, the world’s first 7nm ARM Cortex A77 CPU with strong performance.
Not only that, mediaTek MT6885 integrates 5G modem Helio M70, which has a downlink speed of 4.7Gbps and an upstream speed of 2.5Gbps, and is down-compatible with 4G, 3G and 2G networks.
In addition, it features a new AI architecture with a new stand-alone AI processing unit, APU, to support more advanced AI applications. Includes image processing technology to eliminate image blurring, allowing users to take stunning photos even when shooting objects move quickly.
