Playing with mobile phones is better than raising chickens: Indonesia gives students 2,000 chickens to quit mobile phone addiction

To keep students away from smartphones, officials in Bandung, Indonesia, came up with a trick: They decided to give chicks to students at local elementary and middle schools who were born just four days old, so they could spend their time caring for their new pets. On November 21, the Bandung Municipal Government’s “Chicken Program” was launched, according to Russian satellite news agencies and othermedia. At the “Chicken Project” ribbon-cutting ceremony, 12 chicks were distributed to students.

Each chick is placed in a cage with a sign that says ” Please take good care of me”. In the next few weeks, the city government will distribute about 2,000 four-day-old chicks to students.

It is reported that children can complete the task of caring for the chickens before and after school. They can choose to bring the chicken home. If it is not convenient to raise chickens at home, you can also put them in school.

Bandung Mayor Oded Muhammad Danial said the Chick-fil-A program was not only aimed at changing children’s habits of playing with mobile phones, but also part of Indonesia’s president’s expanded education for children.

One of the teenagers, LaBere, will be involved in the Chicks Program, which his mother thinks is more fun to raise than playing with a mobile phone, and that the implementation of the program will benefit her son. However, Labeir disagrees with his mother and still finds it more interesting to play with his mobile phone. (Source: People’s Daily Overseas Network)
