Recently, according tomedia reports, Google announced that the Google X project developed “daily robots” have learned to classify office garbage, and can self-clean up recycling and mixed garbage. Instead of writing complex instructions for robots to identify different kinds of objects, Google has experimented and tested the robots to find out the answers to their own questions, the report said.

Developers observe the robot’s garbage classification work every day and label it correctly and incorrectly. The AI program automatically simulates updating data for thousands of modules every night, depending on the content of the labels. The next day, the results of the update will be re-integrated into the robot software and a new learning cycle will be started, improving performance day in and day out.

After months of study, the pollution rate of classified robots fell from 20% to 5%. The rate of garbage contamination, i.e. the proportion of misclassified materialmixed in the garbage.

The visual sensors on the robot’s head scan the environment and identify objects, and there are multiple cameras inside that allow the head and arms to work independently. The robot also colorcodes scanned items and identifies items that may need to be moved, cleaned, or discarded.

It is reported that the office “daily robot” is still learning how to pour water, and how to separate the area of important and unimportant items.
