Yesterday afternoon we reported that many Of the Stadia users reported in the community that they were using Google’s Chromecast Ultra streaming player hardware for Stadia games while the hardware overheated and automatically shut down. Google responded to CNN by saying chromecast hardware was “working on design” and that it was not having a hardware failure.

Google says Chromecast does get hot when using Stadia streaming games, but there’s no difference in the use case used to stream movies or TV shows in peacetime. And Google has promised to conduct extensive tests on heat issues before Stadia’s launch, meaning the test results are not a big deal. Officials also expressed concern about players who are struggling with overheating, saying they are “willing to work with users to better understand their particular experience.”
