NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has released the latest “Mission” podcast, an episode called Planet Asteroid that details asteroids called Ceres and Vesta, as well as the dwarf planet Pluto. Like NASA’s other podcasts, the content of the On A Mission episode is free to download to a variety of services, and NASA provides subtitles for the episode.
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (commonly known as JPL) is NASA’s research institute focusing on the universe around us. NASA JPL scientists have created a variety of spacecraft for space missions, exploration of other planets and asteroids, and more. Unsurprisingly, the institute’s ‘On A Mission’ podcast focuses on its work and space missions.
Following the release of two episodes earlier this month, on November 19th NASA released the seventh episode of the second season of On A Mission, detailing a metal asteroid called Psyche and discussing the return of physical samples of the asteroid to Earth.
This time, the public learned about Vesta, Ceres, Pluto, and the Dawn space probe launched in 2007 to study the two giant asteroids. NASA announced last year that the N”s Dawn probe was out of fuel and officially decommissioned, and the new podcast gives the public interesting details about the mission, including technical issues and surprises involving space probes.
The public can experience this podcast and other similar podcasts in a variety of ways. For example, a full podcast list is available on NASA’s website, or audio clips can be listened to on Apple Podcast, Soundcloud and Google Play. You can also visit NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory website for podcasts.
