Both Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge’s market share rose slightly in August.

Netmarketshare released its Market Share Report for August 2020. The report showed a slight increase in market share for Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge, while Chrome’s market share declined slightly. On the operating system side, Windows 10 rose to 61.26 percent from 60.57 percent the month before. Windows 7’s share also edged up to 22.77 percent from 22.21 percent. MacOS X 10.15’s share rose to 5.11 percent from 5.03 percent, while Linux’s 1.27 percent.

On the browser side, Chrome fell from 70.89 per cent to 69.94 per cent, while Edge rose from 8.52 per cent to 8.84 per cent. That’s a disappointing number, given that Microsoft has already started rolling out a new version of Edge through cumulative updates. Meanwhile, Firefox changed from 7.11 per cent to 7.1 per cent.

This month’s market share figures are roughly the same as the previous one. Windows 10 didn’t gain any significant market share this month, but we saw a slight increase in macOS X 10.15.
