Musk and SpaceX plan to show off an updated prototype of the starship by the end of October.

SpaceX has managed to get four prototypes of its eventual Mars rocket, starship Starship, off the ground, but so far it has taken less than a minute to fly and has not exceeded an altitude of about 500 feet (150 meters),media CNET reported. Elon Musk, SpaceX’s chief executive, hopes to change that with the official version 1.0 of the next-generation rocket, which he says will be shown at an event later in October.

SpaceX has been working to develop a starship that can go into orbit and return. These efforts have been going on for more than a year since its development program in Boca Chica, Texas, began to really intensify. This month’s event will be a follow-up to a September 2019 speech in which Musk detailed his vision by standing in front of a full-size model of the Starship.

So far, the starship prototype has made several successful “jumps”, but there have also been failures in the middle as part of the process of testing the new system.
