Renowned guitarist Eddie Van Halen has died at the age of 65. Van Halen’s son Wolfgang confirmed the news in a tweet Tuesday, saying his father had a long and hard battle with cancer.
Citingmedia TMZ, Van Halen was found with throat cancer at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Johns Hospital was present, along with his wife Janie, son Wolfgang and his brother Alex. News of his death quickly became a twitter hit, with many fans and musicians expressing their condolences and sharing a classic picture of the guitarist.
Lenny Kravitz tweeted: “Heaven will be electric guitar tonight. Singer-songwriter John Fogerty wrote: “I am in awe of Eddie’s talent and amazing guitar skills. At the same time, Weezer said he would dedicate his upcoming album Van Weezer to the guitarist “thank you for bringing incredible music to our youth and inspiring the record.”
