TikTok, the mobile app’s top list in September 2020, still leads the global downloads.

According to Sensor Tower’s latest September statistics, TikTok remains the most popular non-gaming iOS/Android mobile app of the same period, leading the global download rankings. This video app is followed by Zoom, the cloud video conferencing service app, and Facebook in social media. However, the iOS App Store and Google Play are slightly different in order from the system platform.

Although Sensor Tower’s data doesn’t include third-party platform data outside the official iOS/Android App Store, we’re impressed by the global download ranking.

TikTok is reported to account for 9% and 11% of non-gaming app downloads in the U.S./Brazil market, respectively.

Interestingly, although the top three places in the international rankings are TikTok /Zoom/Facebook, the third place in the iOS App Store is YouTube. In addition, the 2nd to 3rd name of the Google Play Store is Facebook and Zoom.

Also, even though Microsoft Teams is ranked 8th in the iOS App Store, it doesn’t appear on the other two lists.

Snack Video, meanwhile, finished fourth on Google Play, but not in the top 10 of iOS, and ranked 7th overall in the world.

Media point out that there is such a big difference on the iOS/Android platform because Sensor Tower excludes all pre-installed apps from the list.

But in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic, cloud video conferencing apps, represented by Zoom and Google Meet, saw an unstoppable user-scale explosion (compared to the same period last year).

By contrast, instant messaging apps, represented by Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, have performed a bit of a “no-go” process.
