On February 7, 2018, SpaceX launched its first Heavy Falcon rocket, and Iron Man’s Elon Musk achieved a feat by sending his beloved Tesla Roadster sports car into space with a “passenger” wearing a prototype of SpaceX’s space suit, which Musk called Starman. In response, some said Musk was crazy, and others praised it as an unprecedented feat.
Since then, the sports car has been orbiting the sun, and Musk has announced that it will enter Mars orbit and then head for the asteroid belt.
However, many scientists believe that the future of the sports car is worrying, in outer space thousands of micro-meteorites, space radiation threat, it is very likely to be torn to pieces, Mars can not reach.
But on October 8th the sports car made its first close encounter with Mars, less than 8 million kilometers apart, or about 0.05 astronomical units, or one-tenth of the distance from Earth to the sun.
Starman is now about 60 million kilometers from home.
If nothing had happened, the sports car would have been flying in the vast universe for more than a billion years.
