Recently, China’s longest “reverse river” dredging river re-emergence of the western stream of the river, at the same time, dried up disappeared more than 300 years of dredging river terminal lake – “Harachi” re-emergence. In this “sea of deserts”, white storks and wild ducks inhabit, dried up and disappeared nearly 300 years of dredging river terminal lake – “Harachi” re-emerged, and formed a lake about 5 square kilometers . it’s spectacular.
This was recently discovered by researchers at the intersection of the western end of the West Lake National Nature Reserve in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, and the eastern edge of the Kumtag Desert.
“Harachi” is the tail of the dredging river, where the water was abundant, the lake waverippled, and later because of the deterioration of the ecological environment, from east to west flow of the dredging river once cut off, “Harachi” also disappeared. Since 2011, with the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for the Rational Use of Water Resources and Ecological Protection in Dunhuang, especially the completion of the rehabilitation and return project of the dredging river and the Party River, the continuous supply of ecological water, the restoration of the dredging river flowed throughout, and its terminal lake, “Harachi”, was able to re-emerge on the surface.
