Samsung Electronics plans to release its first Mini LED TV in 2021, according tomedia reports. Samsung Electronics is reportedly currently developing the Mini LED TV, which uses ultra-small LEDs each with a diameter of 100 to 300 microns as a backlight. When these LEDs are tightly arranged and used as light sources, the screen is brighter and the picture quality is clearer.
The company had planned to finish production of the necessary parts in the first half of this year and then bring the TV to market in the second half of this year. But in August it was reported that the company had not yet started production of parts, so the launch of the product was delayed until next year.
Mini LED-screen TVs offer better picture quality with better contrast than standard LCD-screen TVs, and are cheaper than OLED-screen TVs.
In addition, Samsung Electronics says mini LED TVs will provide a better experience than QLED smart TVs currently on the market. It is reported that the company plans to produce 2 million such televisions next year.
Earlier, some Chinese brands launched Mini LED TVs. In early August, for example, TCL released the Mini LED Screen TV, which features Mini LED display backlight technology and supports a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
