Blizzard recently gave an interview to Australasian Media Ausgamers, where game director Luis Barrio and artistic director John Mueller gave in-depth presentations about the game itself and the big villain Lilith. According to the team, they want to build a grand story around Lilith.
“When we saw Lilith’s conceptual art, we were inspired to create a whole new story around the character,” says Luis. There are a wealth of backstory in the novel and the surrounding books, so we decided to study the creation myth more carefully. Every time we beat a big pineapple, he always comes back – so it’s also a case of leading us to think about other ways of inspiration. ”
According to artistic director John, there are already plenty of known/unknown characters in the series that could be introduced to Diablo 4 in the future, hinting at the possibility of a dupple of expansion packages around other characters and rivals.
“Diablo 4 is like the first chapter of a book, we want to tell a grand story, and hopefully it will be around for a long time. And Lilith is the protagonist of this first chapter, the future chapter may have a return to the role or new people to join the story, which feels quite good. ”
He added: “It also changes the rules of the game. In fact, the game’s great villain Diablo, has never been permanently banished. What if we don’t bring him back to the battlefield right away? Instead, we should take the time to explore other characters. ”
Diablo 4 was first revealed at the 2019 Blizzard Carnival earlier this month, and no exact date has been announced.
