Next year’s new iPhone will feature Samsung Y-OCTA technology, thinner screen panels

According to South Korean website ETNews, Apple plans to release its 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones in 2020 with thinner OLED screens. Next year’s iPhone is referred to in the report as the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max support Samsung Y-OCTA technology, which allows touch-screen circuits to be built directly on OLED panels without the need for separate layers, making the display panel thinner and reducing production costs.

The Y-OCTA technology screen will be used on the 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch high-end iPhones, the low-end 6.1-inch will still feature traditional LCD screens, the vendors will still be Samsung and LG, and the BOE may also be called one of the suppliers, which is not yet certain.
