If Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wins this year’s election, he and his wife Jill will not be the only ones to stay in the White House in 2021, according tomedia reports. Biden’s election will mean his pet re-emerged at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue — the Bidens own two German shepherds, Champ and Major. In August, Jill Biden shared a photo of the puppy.
The Bidens learned that the Bidens got Champ from a dog keeper in 2008 and adopted Major from the Traverse Road Association in 2018.
Most presidents have at least one pet, but President Donald Trump doesn’t. U.S. President Barack Obama’s family has two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, at the White House. Obama promised his daughters that if he won the 2008 presidential election, the family could have a dog, so Bo moved into the White House in 2009. As many pet owners know, a pet often turns into two. Sunny was born in 2013.
Some dog owners found the news of the puppy’s return to the White House heartening. “This is Major and Champ,” the We Rate Dogs @JoeBiden wrote@DrBiden the dog. Champ has gone to the White House, but Major hasn’t. Champ can’t wait to show him around. “
Some Twitter users asked their pets to congratulate Major and Champ on joining their new roles.
“I want to congratulate Champ and Major,” one user wrote. Another user who shared a photo of the dog wrote: “Tyson (the name of the dog in the photo) is now relieved that the dogs (Champ and Major) are back in the White House.” “
Although Vice President-elect Kamala Harris doesn’t have a pet, she seems to love dogs, at least in 2019. “Dogs are always popular in my Senate office,” she wrote, sharing photos of some of the dogs.
