Microsoft is moving many of the features in the control panel to more modern setup applications. In the Windows 10 Build 20197 preview update released in August, Microsoft introduced a more modern Disk Management page. In a recent Windows Insider podcast, Microsoft revealed more about the feature.
Microsoft says it’s the first setup page to be used in conjunction with C++ and WinRT, simplifying the interaction of COM components in a new modern user interface. Microsoft also said the page would be able to follow the file system’s adjustments in real time, such as when you plug in a USB disk.
“The update mechanism is no longer bundled with UI threads,” Microsoft said. This means that the UI uses a non-blocking synchronization mechanism to get information. One of the main objectives of the project is to provide an accessible interface for managing device storage.” However, the function of the new page is still not perfect, there is still a lot of follow-up work to follow up.
