Although ZTE has won the first of its off-screen camera phones, more head manufacturers are expected to follow suit, such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and OV. Samsung plans to mass-produce off-screen camera technology on the Galaxy Fold 3, according to South Korean media. The previous first generation ofFold was the “silly big black rough” oblique notch, the second generation ofFold is the central hole-digging screen.
Samsung Display is producing the display panels needed for the camera, while the front-facing image sensors are produced by Samsung’s LSI division, which is also working to improve the camera’s output quality by developing sophisticated image correction algorithms, the report said.
Earlier, there was widespread speculation that the S21 series would be Samsung’s first off-screen camera product, but multiple leaks have denied the rumors or the Infinity-O central hole.
Given that Samsung is likely to cut the Note series from next year, Fold looks set to take on the responsibility of a new big-screen flagship.
